Petronas’ ‘Cerita Kita’ to colour National Day celebration

- KUALA LUMPUR: By Nor Akmar Samudin and Husna Alias

A video clip by Petronas, titled Cerita Kita (Our Story), depicting the country’s spirit of unity and harmony from a child’s perspective is set to colour the National Day and Malaysia Day 2018 celebrations.

Petronas’ festive season television commercials, always a muchanticipated affair, will, this time, be shown through a variety of media platforms, including television, as well as at the Galeri Petronas.

This marks a continuous effort by the national petroleum producer to foster the spirit of unity and harmony among Malaysia’s multiethnic community.

Petronas senior general manager of group strategic communications Zahariah Abd Rahman said the company hoped that the campaign would serve as a reminder of what made Malaysians truly special.

“Via this campaign, we hope to deliver an inspirational story which embodies the noble values we have always shared.

“It is these values that unite us as a unique people, thus making us truly Malaysian,” she said at the launch of the Cerita Kita exhibition and advertisement campaign at Galeri Petronas yesterday.

The launch was officiated by Petronas chairman Datuk Ahmad Nizam Salleh. Present was Petronas president and group chief executive officer Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin.

The public could view the 60second advertisement via Petronas’ official social media platforms, starting yesterday.

Zahariah said the advertisementl offered interesting visuals featuring 10 children, aged between 5 and 13, from across the country.

The children, from their own camera lenses, express their views on hope, love, unsung heroes and family life in Malaysia.

The campaign will air on television from Aug 23 to 31, while two special campaigns will air from Sept 1 to 16.

“Galeri Petronas will also be organising an exhibition titled ‘Ceritera Kita’, which highlights Petronas’ corporate social responsibility activities and how the public has benefited from them,” Zahariah said.

The exhibition is open to the public from Aug 16 to Sept 30. Entrance is free.
