Petronas Dagangan targets 30pc non-fuel sales contribution
Initiatives include plans to transform Petronas stations into innovation hubs
PETRONAS Dagangan Bhd (PDB) targets to increase its non-petrol sales contribution to 30 per cent over the next two to three years.
Its managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin said petrol sales contributed 90 per cent to total revenue while non-petrol, including retail, contributed the remaining 10 per cent.
Syed Zainal said PDB needed to boost its non-fuel segment as global trends moving towards renewable energy.
He said initiatives to achieve the target included providing more offerings at Petronas petrol stations, increasing efficiency of station maintenance and creating a more comprehensive customer experience.
The group’s partnership with Common Ground, Malaysia’s largest leading co-working space is one such initiative.
The partnership marks the cornerstone of PDB’s plan to transform Petronas stations into innovation hubs, which Syed Zainal is hopeful would eventually enhance its non-fuel profit.
“PDB has partnered with the industry’s leading platform of Common Ground in transforming the Petronas station in Ampang Lama, Ampang Road, to an innovation hub, also known as The Place @ Ampang.
“The Place @ Ampang is one of PDB’s long-term strategies to rebrand retail business that focuses on creating innovative services to customers,” he said after visiting the Common Ground room, here, yesterday.
Syed Zainal said while it had some exciting ideas, PDB was open to receiving new ones as it looks to encourage the growth of the local startup industry.
“This fits our continuous efforts in supporting local SMEs and vendors to be part of our business eco-system. We want to reach out to more and this is where Common Ground will play a central role in connecting us with the rest of the startup community, to further explore and create greater innovations,” said Syed Zainal.
PDB is targeting to duplicate similar business ideas by transforming its six other stations in Shah Alam Seksyen 26, Ampang, Solaris, Setiawangsa, Johor Baru and Langkawi into innovation hubs.
