‘No need for PH to apologise on pledges’

-

KUALA LUMPUR: There is no need for Pakatan Harapan to apologise to the people over its inability to fulfil 10 promises in 100 days made in the 14th General Election (GE14).

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said although PH had failed to fulfil its 10 promises within the stipulated time, the government would continue to work towards realising the promises.

She said some pledges were fulfilled, including the abolishment of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the Dewan Rakyat, as well as the commencement of the Employees Provident Fund’s (EPF) Suri Incentive programme (i-Suri) for housewives.

“Tidaklah (No need, for PH to apologise to the people). Maybe not as what we hoped for, but we tried our best.

“At least, in my ministry, we had commenced i-Suri and promoted the programme.

“It is not easy for us to implement everything because we do not have enough information (while being the opposition) to solve all problems.

“I am not trying to give excuses, but we did our best and will continue to do so,” she said the Parliament lobby here yesterday

She was responding to a question on whether there was a need for PH to apologise to the people as its 100 days ends today.

The 10 pledges PH promised to implement in 100 days were to abolish GST, reduce the cost of living, stabilise petrol prices, abolish Felda settlers’ debts, introduce an EPF scheme for housewives, set a minimum wage nationwide and delay the repayment period for National Higher Education Fund Corporation loans.
