OVER MY SKIN

Tiffany Young

IF you think you know her, you may want to think again.

Tiffany Young has just returned with a fresh new single, Over My

Skin, and it’s her first time dabbling in the Western music industry and it is clear that she is going full gear.

Her debut single was in Korean titled I Just Wanna Dance

out in 2016. Fast forward two years later, Young is back with a completely different look and song.

Having been in the industry for a long time, she is definitely no new player.

If you have been to South Korea for the past decade, it’s impossible not going anywhere without spotting her face.

After all, Girls’ Generation was one of the country’s most prominent K-Pop acts.

Throughout her career, Tiffany has released nine studio albums in total, performed at Madison Square Garden and of course, been a part of one of the world’s most famous K-pop girl group.

However, following the group’s 10th anniversary, Tiffany decided to return to her hometown in Los Angeles for a change and here we are with her brand new track.

Over My Skin is a song about female empowerment. The 1990s-inspired pop track, which has a nice touch of R&B, is produced by Khwezi and Kev Nish of Far East Movement.

It’s nothing over the top but I’ll have to admit that Young’s vocals surely took centre stage and even reminded me of Arianna Grande. I won’t be surprised if the two decide to collaborate someday!

Having said that, her accompanying music video also received quite some buzz. It shows a completely different side to her, dancing and grooving to the beat.

Although there were some comments on YouTube saying “the good is great but the MV can be better”, I’d say cut Young some slack! After all, this is her first solo effort in a completely new environment.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, she said: “I was thinking more about how can I bring what I am as a K-Pop artiste, but also bring in the elements of pop that I love and grew up with.”

I definitely have to applaud her for her efforts! Credit should be given when it’s due.

If you haven’t heard the song, it’s about time you get to know this other side of Young. I heard it and I loved it!
