Forest City Golf Resort, hotel can offer 200,000 jobs, says developer
ISKANDAR PUTERI: The opening of Forest City Golf Resort and the first gold course designed by golfer Jack Nicklaus have led to more job opportunities for locals.
Country Garden Pacificview (CGPV) managing director Syarul Izam Sarifudin said as the developer of Forest City’s master project, it was confident that the opening of the hotel and the first such golf course would meet their target of creating 200,000 jobs by 2035.
He said Forest City had created 1,298 jobs for locals, as well as conducted corporate social responsibility programmes in villages near the development area.
“Forest City Golf Hotel has more than 150 staff and what we (Forest City) are more proud of is that they are made up of locals.
“We are proud to be part of Iskandar Malaysia’s success story.
“The opening of Forest City Golf Hotel and this golf course will help Johor become a premier holiday destination in the region.”
Syarul Izam said the opening of Forest City Golf Resort led to of large-scale investment opportunities, job openings, as well opportunities for locals to learn skills.
“Forest City Golf Resort offers three courses, with the first course equipped with 18 holes.
“It was designed by Nicklaus and his son.
“The courses are expected to give (golf) fans a new experience.
“The differences highlighted by the golf course are in the form of natural elements, including wind, which will pose a challenge for golf enthusiasts,” Syarul Izam said.
Johor Tourism Golf Association (JGTA) president Colonel (Rtd) Mohd Jamal Salleh said the golf course would contribute to and promote the state’s golf tourism industry.
“With the best facilities and golf course that are of international standards, this golf course can develop and promote the golf tourism industry, especially in Johor.
“With the opening of international golf clubs, such as Forest City and The Els Club Desaru Coast in Desaru, JGTA is confident that the state golf tourism industry can attract more foreign players to travel to Johor for golf.”
