Sisters robbed at Setapak laundromat

KUALA LUMPUR: Two siblings who were waiting for their laundry at a self-help laundromat were robbed of their valuables by two armed men on Thursday.

The incident occurred at Medan Idaman in Setapak here at 4.15am.

The sisters, aged 35 and 41, were in the premises when four men on two motorcycle­s pulled up outside the laundromat.

Two men, armed with parang, entered the premises and ransacked the women’s bags.

The men later fled the scene on their motorcycle­s.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Superinten­dent Noor Azmi Yusoff confirmed the incident and said the victims had lodged a police report.

“The women were the only people at the laundromat at the time.

“The incident was captured on two closed-circuit television cameras.

“However, none of the suspects could be identified as they wore helmets and their faces were covered.”

He said the women were not injured in the incident.

“The victims lost RM360, two mobile phones and personal identifica­tion documents.”

A video of the incident went viral several days ago.

One of the victims’ siblings shared a Facebook posting on the incident, cautioning other women to be careful.

The case is being investigat­ed under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and armed robbery.
