THE Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2019 (LIMA’19) will become a reference point for the government to develop and modernise military, civil aerospace and maritime assets.

Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu said the latest assets and technology would be displayed at LIMA’19 and it would boost local and international defence cooperation.

“LIMA’19 will be an exciting affair. I urge industry players to come on board and be part of the ‘team’,” he said at the launch of LIMA’19 here yesterday.

Present were Deputy Defence Minister Liew Chin Tong and Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Zulkifli Zainal Abidin.

Mohamad said LIMA’19, themed “Defence and Commercial Connecting Intelligence” and to be held from March 26 to 30 next year at Langkawi, was aiming for 60 per cent of content from the defence sector and 40 per cent from the commercial sector.

Meanwhile, EN Project Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Lieutenant General (Rtd) Datuk Seri Sabri Adam said about 600 companies from 14 pavilions nationwide and 350 foreign delegations were expected to participate in the exhibition.

“More than 100 planes and 30 maritime assets (will be on display during the exhibition) and 60 per cent of floor space has been booked by local and international companies,” he said.

The five-day exhibition will be held at Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre, while Resort World Langkawi would host the maritime exhibition.

LIMA, which has been held biennially since 1991, provides the maritime and aerospace industry with a platform for networking and business opportunities. It functions as a gateway to Asia Pacific markets.
