KOTA BARU: The federal police, with the cooperation of Kelantan police, seized drugs worth RM4.3 million in raids conducted simultaneously in three locations on Sunday.

Police arrested three men, aged between 30 and 34, during the operations, which were carried out in Kampung Derdak Limbat and Kampung Kepas, Jalan Banggol Jerih, Pasir Mas, between 3.55am and 4.10am.

The raids were conducted by a team from the Federal Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department and the state police headquarters after a month-long intelligence gathering following a public tip-off.

State police chief Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan said the first raid in Kampung Derdak Limbat led to the seizure of 80.7kg of syabu that had been packed, 5,700 Eramin 5 pills, 2,000 yaba tablets dan 167 Ecstasy pills.

“In the second raid in Kampung Kepas, Jalan Banggol Jerih in Pasir Mas, a 30year-old man was arrested and 467g of syabu was seized.

“There was no seizure in the third raid, which saw the arrest of a 34-year-old man in Kampung Derdak Limbat. We confiscated a Perodua Myvi, a Proton Satria, a motorcycle and RM5,900 cash, with a total estimated value of RM65,000,” he said here yesterday.

Hasanuddin said investigations revealed that the trio were from the same syndicate and had been active since a few months ago.

“Our investigations found that the drugs were believed to have been obtained from a neighbouring country to be marketed in Kelantan and the Klang Valley. Based on the size of the seizure, the substance could reach more than 412,000 people.

“Further investigations are being carried out to locate the syndicate leader and to identify whether it has a network with an international syndicate.”
