He encourages all Malaysians to fly the Jalur Gemilang in this Merdeka month.

“Indeed, this year’s Merdeka celebration is significant as we are all inspired by Harapan Merdeka (Merdeka Hope) for a greater and progressive Malaysia, in the Muhibbah spirit of Harmony, Hope and Unity in Diversity which befits our Merdeka spirit of celebrating Malaysia’s diversity and promoting unity, togetherness and understanding among Malaysians in conjunction with the 61st National Day 2018 celebration, as well as Malaysia

Day. This Merdeka charity event, held in conjunction with The Federal Hotel’s 61st anniversary celebration, is part of our Federal Hotels International Group’s continuous sharing and caring community commitments, as we wanted to continue to instil the meaning of Merdeka and patriotic spirit among the children, our younger generation and fellow Malaysians. We have always encouraged our teams to ‘Make A Difference.’

“The Federal Kuala Lumpur, also known as Hotel for Merdeka, was the first international hotel, to open its doors on Aug 28, 1957 to welcome VIPs, foreign dignitaries, and diplomats who arrived in Kuala Lumpur to witness Malaya celebrate her independence on Aug 31, 1957. The Federal Hotel has embodied the spirit of Malaysia in its design and themes, befitting its role as the venue for official banquet receptions and functions hosted by the Federal Government and the private sector.

“To celebrate this double joyous occasions, Malaysia and The Federal Hotel Kuala Lumpur, both celebrating their 61st Anniversary, and in paying tribute to our Bapa Malaysia, the late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al Haj, our first prime minister of Malaysia, our team of chefs from The Federal Hotel Kuala Lumpur has specially selected some recipes of Tunku’s favourite dishes from Favourite Dishes from the Tunku’s Kitchen cookbook for the afternoon luncheon.

“The Federal Kuala Lumpur will distribute the Jalur Gemilang, as well as a #AnakAnakMalaysia wristbands contributed by EcoWorld, which shares the patriotic cause of promoting unity, patriotism and love for our country. Kita Semua Anak-Anak Malaysia, in the spirit of Merdeka, let’s come together to fly our Jalur Gemilang and together we stand as a nation in unity and harmony.

Let us aspire to realise our goals for a greater and progressive Malaysia — Kita Punya Malaysia, Sayangi MalaysiaKu, Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan ke-61!”
