LANGKAWI: The expression of admiration and love for the country continues to be enlivened by the Department of Information Malaysia (JaPen) through its “Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang Extra” (KMJG Extra) convoy here yesterday.

KMJG Extra involved 180 participants of “Landy Lover Utara” group in a convoy of 42 fourwheel drive vehicles and a bus led by Information director-general Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman, as well as 21 participants in “Kembara Media 2018” from 15 media agencies and organisations nationwide.

Ibrahim said the objective of the programme was to instil patriotism and love for one’s country, and to foster unity.

“KMJG Extra is a continuation of the ‘Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang 2018’ that took place nationwide from July 5 till Aug 31.”

Among the places visited by the convoy are Discovery Darulaman Sanctuary, Lubuk Semilang and Sekolah Kebangsaan Kuala Triang for a feast with villagers.

Participants were taken to attractions such as Pekan Rabu, Dataran Underwater World, Chenang Beach and Galeria Perdana to hand out more than 1,000 Jalur Gemilang flags.

Ibrahim said media engagement in “Kembara Media 2018” from Sept 8 till Sept 11 would highlight the promotion of development projects on the island being carried out by the government.

The four-day programme sponsored by the Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) also aided the promotion of the holiday island’s new tourist spots.
