Deputy minister’s former aide released on bail

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Home Minister Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman’s former aide, who was caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording an upskirt video of a woman at an optical shop in Solaris Dutamas here, was released on police bail on Monday night.

Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner R. Munusamy said the 47-year-old man was released at 10pm after having his statement recorded.

Munusamy said investigations were underway.

The man was arrested by police at a restaurant in Solaris Publika at 1pm on the same day to facilitate investigations.

Police have since opened an investigation paper in relation to the case after they received a report on the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

The aide was sacked with immediate effect after a video depicting the incident went viral on social media.

In her report, the woman said she was conducting an eye test on Azis at the shop at 11am, and his aide was hovering behind her.

Feeling uncomfortable with the man’s suspicious behaviour, the victim turned to look at a screen next to her, and noticed that the man was holding a mobile phone.

She reviewed the CCTV footage and saw that the man had placed his phone under her skirt and recorded a video.
