SPRY WATERPROOF DRONE

AS underwater drones continue to remain a novelty while the airborne drone market matures, here is a unique take that will bring the best of both words together: The Spry.

It is a waterproof drone that can not only briefly submerge like a submarine and float like a boat afterwards, it is also capable of taking off and flying in the air at speeds of more than 43mph (69kph).

You will also find the Spry to be extremely capable in terms of imaging quality, as it carries a self-contained 4K camera that is able to capture video at 30 frames per second, snap still photos at 12 megapixels, all while transmitting the video signal wirelessly to a 4.3-inch (10.9cm) monitor that has been embedded in its waterproof remote control.

The remote control itself is waterproof, which is yet another first in the industry.

Built-in GPS capability within the Spry also enables it to deliver advanced flight such as Hold Position, Auto Follow, Object Orbit and Return to Pilot’s Position.

The idea behind the Spry is to merge a fast racing quadcopter alongside the merits of a photography/videography drone, all crammed into a compact yet durable design.

The Spry’s live video feed can be viewed on the embedded monitor in the remote control, as well as on other video monitors and video goggles simultaneously.

The Spry is currently available for pre-order at a 25 per cent discount for US$749. Do take note that it is not meant to be used for diving or snorkelling. It is primarily an airborne drone but it does provide the option of brief forays underwater for a more interesting twist to your drone videos and photos.
