Predictions about higher education’s future often result in a very different vision about what is next for colleges. It is a picture of an economy that will continue to demand higher levels of education for an increasing share of the workforce. We are living in an incredible age for learning, when there’s so much knowledge available, that one would think that this is good news for higher education.

Kolej UNIKOP celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2018. This milestone is a testament to past accomplishments and a catalyst for transforming the college in the future. It has come a long way since its founding in 1998. The college has a long history of external partnerships, not only in recruiting students, faculty, and staff, but also in the communities it served.
“Everyone in the college put in the energies, talents and resources for UNIKOP’s future and persistence toward educational goals. We pledge to enhance the student experience and support students from the time they start at Kolej UNIKOP until they earn their diploma” said Amir.
What will the college look like in 2023 and how successful will it be? According to Amir, “There is a strong emphasis on agility and transformation so they can meet emergent trends.” This is clear: After remaining relatively stagnant for decades as enrolment grew, colleges are about to undergo a period of profound change whether they want to or not — as the needs of students and the economy shift.
Kolej UNIKOP is well grounded in transformational leadership and directed by a broad vision and mission. It articulates two goals that guide it in moving forward to meet its educational and social responsibilities. It sets the college on a path that enhances its contributions to society through capacity building, differentiation, innovation, and continuous improvement.
“Significant change has occurred in post-secondary education in the last decade with the challenges and opportunities presented by online learning, deficit budgets, new educational legislation, and expanded need for applied research and innovation.The College will continue to ensure that accountability to stakeholders is demonstrated through effective development of business plans, measurement of process and outcomes”, says Amir.
