Get MyKad in 1 hour with NRD bus service

-

PUTRAJAYA: The National Registration Department (NRD) is testing its bus mobile services to process applications and issue MyKad between 45 minutes and one hour.

Its director-general, Datuk Mohamad Razin Abdullah, said although the facility was in the trial stage, the department believed the MyKad process could be done fast.

Currently, he said, applicants who used the NRD bus mobile services were required to collect their MyKad from the department’s nearest branch within five days.

“The pilot project began in July. In the near future, we believe applicants can obtain their MyKad within 45 minutes via the NRD Bus Mobile Service,” he said at the flag-off of the NRD Bus Mobile convoy held yesterday in conjunction with the 2018 National Registration Day.

Razin said the department had four buses, two of which were in the peninsula with one each in Sabah and Sarawak.

He said the department had carried out programmes to improve its services and to be closer to the people, especially those who had issues relating to registration.

On the Bus Mobile Service convoy programme, Razin said it had raised the public’s awareness of the importance of keeping their identification documents safe.

He said the department started the programme in Sarawak, followed by the southern zone, in Sabah, in the northern zone and eastern zone, between Sept 15 and 30.

He said the department had also introduced services under the Ehsan Mobile service, catering to the needs of special groups, including senior citizens, the disabled, bedridden patients and patients with mental issues.
