3 police reports lodged since Saturday

PORT DICKSON: Three police reports have been lodged during the ongoing Port Dickson byelection campaign since Saturday.

Port Dickson district police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Faisal Mohd Noor said the reports involved cases of theft, fake news and threats.

In the first report, Faisal said, a local news agency photographer claimed that his camera bag was stolen on nomination day.

“Until today, we have yet to find any leads on the case.

“But the investigation is still ongoing.

“We urge anyone with information on the matter to come forward and help us solve the case.

“In the second report, a worker at Pakatan Harapan’s operations centre claimed to have received a threat through a telephone call from a man who demanded protection money.

“We have tracked down a suspect.

“He has been asked to provide his statement on the case,” Faisal said here yesterday.

He said the third report was lodged by Lembah Pantai member of parliament Fahmi Fadzil over an allegedly fake news report involving Pakatan Harapan candidate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Police said Fahmi would be summoned to have his statement recorded and forwarded to the Malaysia Multimedia and Communications Commission.

Faisal said police received only four applications to hold ceramah since Sunday.

“The applications are from PH and Pas.

“We received none from the independent candidates.”
