Do not cause trouble, delegates warned

-

KUALA SELANGOR: Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari yesterday warned Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) delegates not to cause any commotion during the PKR election in the state.

He said the party would not hesitate to take firm action against any delegate involved in a fracas.

“We (the party) will hold a special meeting (before the election), to find a way to ensure that the elections will take place smoothly.

“We will take firm action as shown earlier such as sacking them if they act abusively,” said Amirudin at the launch of the 2018 Xploride Bukit Melawati cycling programme here, recently.

Also at the event was Bukit Melawati state assemblyman Juwairiya Zulkifli.

The PKR elections for Selangor would take place from Oct 14, 21 and 28 in several districts including Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam.

Amirudin, who is contesting a Central Leadership Council seat at the polls, said he would also place police personnel around polling stations to ensure that the commotion seen in Penang and Kedah would not be repeated.

“We have given the election schedule to the state police for them to visit the location and control the crowd ... we are hopeful the elections in the state will be peaceful ,” he said.

Recently, in Penang and Kedah, some PKR delegates were hurt during the party elections when some members became rowdy after learning the e-vote system was being used for the first time.
