NSLOA ORGANISES SECOND TRUCKING CARNIVAL
THE Negri Sembilan Lorry Operator’s Association (NSLOA) recently organised its second trucking carnival after a seven-year hiatus.
Twenty-six local and international sponsors and exhibitors from the heavy vehicle industry took part in the two-day carnival held at the D’Tempat Country Club.
The participating transport companies showcased their products and services while seminars on truck safety were held by companies like SKF Malaysia, Guardian South East Asia Pte Ltd and Hong Seng Group.
“For NSLOA, it is always important for us to maintain good relationship with all members, government agencies, suppliers, operators, manufacturers and everyone are involved with the industry. This carnival is in line with the government’s policies on safety, where we are promoting safety and technology of the trucking industry.
“Most importantly, the public is able to see and feel the trucks, at the same time learn more about its safety and technology,” said NSLOA president Lee Hung Yang in an interview.
The event ended with a gala dinner on the second night. Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook attended the dinner, which was held in conjunction with NSLOA’s 84th anniversary celebrations.
Loke reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to continue working with NSLOA and other transport associations to bring about efficiency and cost reductions in the industry and to resolve problems in the regulations and enforcement.
“Road freight transport is the backbone of trade and commerce where lorries function as an important part of this logistic chain. As one of Malaysia’s oldest lorry operator associations, we want to set an example as a progressive association that can safeguard our members’ interest and help them compete locally and internationally.
“We will continue to work collaboratively with both the public and private sector to ensure our members’ voice is heard and well represented in discussion with government agencies, suppliers and customers.”
Lee said NSLOA would be carrying out several improvements this yea to enable its members to remain competitive and to help enhance the standard in the trucking industry. Among some of the changes is the debut of NSLOA’s website, which provides vital information related to the trucking industry.
Members can log in to get information about meetings with government agencies and upcoming seminar and events, as well as view training and transport-related articles.
“By introducing our new office bearers in this carnival as well as providing a platform for market players to meet and mingle, we hope it will be an opportunity for everyone to get to know us better,” said Lee.
