‘Move shows good ties between Dr M, Daim and Anwar’

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Daim Zainuddin’s willingness to come to Port Dickson shows that they have good ties with PKR president-elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said Kapar member of parliament Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid.

Sani, who is PKR Central Committee candidate, said both leaders appeared to be sincere in helping Anwar win the by-election.

“This is positive news indeed. It shows they have accepted one another. I do not want to comment further until the by-election results.

“But as I have said before, I always hold on to ‘never betray your friend’ principle,” he said at the PKR election voting centre in Lembah Pantai here yesterday.

Sani said he might speak up against Dr Mahathir and Daim if the situation called for it.

“I am sticking to my principles. If there’s no conspiracy to topple Anwar, then it is fine with me.

“If they (Dr Mahathir and Daim) are sincere, Alhamdulillah... but if they are not, then leave it to Allah. That is what I am holding on to. I will never stay quiet if there’s a conspiracy (to topple Anwar).” he said.

Yesterday, Daim, who is also the Council of Eminent Persons chairman, accompanied Anwar in his campaign and endorsed him as MP.

Today, Dr Mahathir is expected make his appearance in Port Dickson, along with Pakatan Harapan component party leaders.
