Smartphone apps are changing the way people book tickets to attractions and conveniences related to travel. Nur Zarina Othman shares her experience with Klook
ONE of the hassles of travelling is buying tickets for attractions such as theme parks, museums, tours and other things related to travel. There’s always a long queue for tickets that sometimes take up most of your travelling time.
However, advancement in mobile technology is making all these a thing of the past.
Online ticketing service company Klook is revolutionising how travellers acquire tickets.
It offers a seamless way to discover and book popular attractions, tours, rail passes, food options and unique experiences around the world.
Incorporated in 2014, Klook travel is one of the world’s leading travel activities and services booking platforms today.
As free and independent travellers are on the rise, more travellers are planning and booking curated itineraries online including theme park tickets and travel essentials such as pocket WiFi, train passes and even dining venues.
Offering more than 50,000 activities in more than 200 major travel destinations across the world, Klook is Asia’s largest online and mobile booking platform for travel services.

It provides information on nearby destinations suitable for a day’s tour. Nothing is more frustrating than experiencing problems in getting connected on foreign land. To keep expenses low while travelling, data roaming may not be a good choice compared with a local SIM card or pocket WiFi.
With the app, users can pre-purchase and collect a SIM pack upon arrival.
On a trip to Singapore recently, I used a pre-ordered Roaming Man pocket WiFi via Klook, and picked it up at the departure gate.
QUICK ENTRY
With the app, planning and purchasing the entrance tickets to Mandai, the access point of the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari, was swift.
It provides an overview of the zoo, transfer option, dining outlets and attractions in the vicinity.
What to Expect, Activity Information, additional information such as opening hours, address, ticket collection and How to Get There details are provided, making the journey to the location a breeze.
With the planning and purchasing done online, all I needed to do was to show my voucher or QR code on my mobile phone at the entrance for a quick entry, escaping the long line to buy tickets.

This experience proved to be the best, especially at Universal Studios Singapore and Singapore Cable Car.
SAVINGS
Klook’s 5,000 industry partners offer tour packages, entrance fees and ticket prices at discounted prices. For example, I only paid RM58 for RM106 worth of rides on
the Singapore Cable Car Skypass to Mount Faber and a transfer to Sentosa line to go to Sentosa Island.
Klook gives credits every time a purchase is made so I can use the points for my next holiday.
DINING WITH EASE
At Klook, I can purchase cash vouchers for Satay by the Bay, for example. This makes hawker food possible even when I’m running low on local currency.
Just purchase the cash vouchers and follow the simple instructions to collect them.
Besides that, Klook also offers unique dining experiences. From learning to make kimchi in Seoul to foodtrails in old Delhi and food tours on a tuk-tuk in Beijing to premium sky dining on the Singapore flyer, the app has them all.
