SHAH ALAM: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has expressed his sadness over the death of Tan Sri Hassan Azhari.
He said the death of the wellknown religious figure was a huge loss for him.
The state ruler said Hassan used to be his religious teacher and was very close to his late father and grandmother.
“Tengku Permaisuri Selangor and I wish to express our condolences to the next of kin and family members of Hassan, who died on Saturday.
“I am very sad because his death is a huge loss to me. May the soul of the late Hassan be placed with the pious ones,” he said in a statement posted on the Selangor Royal Office Facebook page.
