Johor MB leaves it to police to probe into FB postings
MUAR: Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian said he will leave it to the police to investigate the “slanderous” postings against him on three Facebook accounts.
He also declined to elaborate as not to interfere in the investigation.
“I think that’s what we have sent to the police and they will do their job,” he said after officiating the state-level 2018 National Day celebration at the Pagoh Higher Education Hub here yesterday.
Present were Youth, Sports and Culture Committee chairman Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar; Health, Environment and Agriculture Committee chairman Dr Sahruddin Jamal and State Secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani.
“I hope the people of Johor are not influenced by malicious elements that ridicule and try to bring down the image and credibility of the state government.
“Any official statement from me will only be released through this (his) Facebook account.” “The great people of Johor are the ones who distinguish between what is hatred and what is truth,” he said.
On Friday the youth wing of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) lodged a report against a Facebook page and a website for uploading slanderous statements against Osman.
PPBM’s Johor deputy youth chief Shaiful Rizal Mohd Salleh said some statements were also personal attacks against Osman’s family.
He said the youth wing supported freedom of speech and press freedom, but rejected such slanderous statements and politicking.
