I will continue to defend my father, says Nurulhidayah
KUALA LUMPUR: In a series of Instagram postings, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s daughter, Datuk Nurulhidayah, has reacted to her father’s impending arrest by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Calling for friends and family members to pray for things to be eased for her father, Nurulhidayah announced that a “Solidarity for Grandpa” gathering would be held for the Umno president at 9pm today outside the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
Tomorrow, a solidarity gathering will be held outside the Jalan Duta Court Complex as it has been reported that Ahmad Zahid is expected to be charged tomorrow.
“I will continue to defend my father, who is now the target of cruelty; for religion, race and Malaysia!” Nurulhidayah wrote yesterday.
Using the hashtag #beranikeranabenar, Nurulhidayah posted a short clip of the recent Umno General Assembly, showing members joining hands and singing the song Teman Sejati by the nasyid group, Brothers.
She captioned the post, “Pengorbanan & Kesetiaan (sacrifice and loyalty)”, which was part of the lyrics of the song.
In another post, she shared a picture of her father and lamented why he had to go through all this when he knew this “dirty game of politics”.
“This is all crazy! The shouts of ‘reformasi’ should be replaced with ‘hipokrasi’ (hypocrisy). This is the answer, ‘Abah has Allah’, Me: I’m done,” she wrote.
Nurulhidayah also uploaded a video of her daughter, Sofee, on a video call, asking why “they” wanted to send her grandfather to jail.
“We will go through this together Sofee! Grandpa is not alone! Let’s do it tomorrow! #standforgrandpa #beranikeranabenar,” Nurulhidayah wrote.
