MBI Kedah has big goals

KEDAH has a wealth of treasures that can be developed in tandem with the state government’s vision of a developed and successful state. Menteri Besar Kedah Incorporated (MBI Kedah) is the holding company of subsidiaries — Permodalan Kedah Berhad (PKB), Air Darul Aman Company (SADA), Kedah Agro, Invest Kedah Berhad, Lake Pahlawan Training and Adventure Resort, Global Media Communication Sdn Bhd and Kedah Communication and Event Sdn Bhd — and is involved in investment, development, infrastructure, services, agriculture and tourism.

MBI Kedah aims to boost the state’s economic and support sectors, as well as to generate revenue via projects.

It plays an important role in safeguarding the state’s natural resources, especially its water and forests, to ensure that the state’s water supply is safe and sustainable.

Some of the projects underway include the Kedah Circuit in Sun- gai Petani, Kedah Rubber Project in Padang Terap and the Science and Technology Park in Kubang Pasu.

MBI Kedah is exploring new tourism developments, including the Sungai Batu Archaeological Complex in Sungai Petani, which proves that Kedah is home to the oldest civilisation in Asia.

The complex is more than 2,000 years old, has been considered a complete civilisation and has its own advanced iron smelting sites, a town and a sea port.

Archaeologists from Universiti Sains Malaysia have proved that the area was a thriving port that received foreign traders.

In line with Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir’s vision to promote the state as a sports tourism destination, MBI Kedah is planning and implementing sports programmes.

MBI Kedah contributes aid to the underprivileged through community programmes, which it conducts with local companies.
