LEE Chong Wei, who is recovering from early stage nose cancer, wished for good health so he could return to competitive action soon as he celebrated his 36th birthday yesterday.

The former World No 1 was in Taiwan for two months to undergo treatment and only returned to Malaysia two weeks ago.

Sharing his latest development, the three-time Olympic Games silver medallist said he has been recovering well and is eager to take to court.

“My health is my main priority right now,” said Chong Wei.

“The recovery process has been good so far but I still need rest. Once I am given the green light to make a comeback, I will.”

The 12-time Malaysia Open champion is also hoping to hold a press conference soon to update his fans and the local badminton fraternity on his condition.

“If possible, I would like to meet the press soon.

“I know most of my fans are very concerned and would like to know about my current condition.

“I thank everyone who encouraged and stood by me in my most difficult time.

“I also apologise for not being able to reply everyone personally. For my birthday, I wish for good health for everybody.”
