Massimo launches new, improved sandwich loaf
KUALA LUMPUR: Massimo, a brand under FFM Bhd’s whollyowned The Italian Baker Sdn Bhd, is reintroducing Massimo sandwich loaf with wheat germ that now comes with new improved taste and aroma.
The bread is infused with the goodness of a key ingredient — wheat germ — a small component from the wheat kernel, a powerhouse boasting a multitude of benefits for one’s health.
The wheat kernel, or wheat berry, is the grain portion of the wheat plant and the source of flour.
It consists of three main parts — the endosperm, bran and germ — which are usually separated for different flours and uses.
The germ is a living portion of the wheat kernel and is packed with nutrition and relatively high in protein, lipids (fat) and ash (the amount of minerals present within a food).
Wheat germ is usually associated with good heart health as it contains Omega-3 fatty acids that can help lower the risk of heart-related diseases by reducing the body’s bad cholesterol.
Besides that, it contains high quality protein and B-Complex vitamins and traces of minerals. Wheat germ is rich in minerals (zinc, phosphorous, magnesium), natural fibre, vitamin E, folate (B9), thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2) and niacin (B3).
“This makes it an essential food item that can be incorporated into your everyday diet for a healthier lifestyle. Besides having good nutrients of wheat germ, the bread is cholesterol-free and trans-fat free,” said the company.
The new and improved Massimo sandwich loaf is available at most major supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience stores and neighbourhood grocery shops, at RM2.59 for a 400gm loaf and RM3.63 for a 600gm loaf.
