Maybank, Nestle and Petronas excel

KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd, Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd and Petroliam Nasional Bhd are named the top three employer brands of choice for undergradu­ates at the 2018 Graduates’ Choice Award ceremony.

Petronas won the Best Graduate Employer Brand 2018 under the engineerin­g category, with Maybank winning the banking category and Nestle topping the fast-moving consumer goods category. AirAsia Group won in the e-commerce category, while Sunway Group bagged the real estate category.

Other winners of the award include Ikea Malaysia for the retail category, AIA Bhd insurance, Shell Business Operations shared services, Microsoft informatio­n and communicat­ions technology, and PWC Malaysia for the accounting and profession­al services category.

“The Graduates’ Choice Award celebrates and recognises excellence among organisati­ons that goes above and beyond in bridging the gap between the industry and academia,” said Education Ministry deputy director general for higher education Dr Mohd Nor Azman.

He added this was imperative to achieving the government’s commitment to transformi­ng Malaysia’s education system to keep up with the ever-changing and rising tides of the global industry.

HRINCAMPUS founder and chief executive officer Ben Ho said this year’s Graduates’ Choice Award was a huge success with overwhelmi­ng participat­ion from corporate organisati­ons and universiti­es.

“This shows that employers understand the importance of reaching out to these undergradu­ates and increasing­ly making new graduates recruitmen­t a strategic part of their overall recruitmen­t process,” he said.

The 2018 Graduates’ Choice Award ceremony, attended by more than 400 people, comprising members of the private and public institutio­ns of higher learning, student leaders, representa­tives from the various corporate organisati­ons and invited guests, was held at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

The inaugural award saw university undergradu­ates from more than 100 campuses across the country vote for their preferred employer brands among a total of 360 companies that were nominated across 10 different categories.
