PKR vice-president Tian Chua has chided the party’s Central Election Committee for its apparent weaknesses in handling the party election.

The former Batu member of parliament said these flaws should not had happened as it was not the first time the party had held elections.

“The committee should have ad- dressed any problem before the elections, based on previous experiences.

“For example, at the Pandan branch, we know of the high number of party members in this urban area.

“The committee should have set up more polling locations and not focus on one place.

“Because of this, people were forced to queue for a long time before entering the hall to cast their vote,” he said.

He said this at the Pandan polling centre at the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council Hall in Taman Cempaka here yesterday.

Earlier, the situation there was a tense when it was opened later than the scheduled time.

He said the online voting system that was used for the first time in the party election should be improved.

“The election in Kuala Selangor was postponed due to poor Internet connectivity.

“This is what I meant when I said the committee should have ensured that this problem does not recur.”
