HARVEY NORMAN SEES HIGHER SALES
Aussie retailer eyes 12pc growth based on good Q1 numbers
HARVEY Norman Malaysia expects more than 12 per cent sales growth this year and plans to open 60 stores nationwide in next five to 10 years.
Describing Malaysia as one of its key markets, Harvey Norman Asia managing director Kenneth Aruldoss said six new outlets were expected next year.
“Malaysia is a very good market for Harvey Norman and we are doing very well, here.
“We have even improved our performance compared to the previous year. So far, our sales growth in our first quarter this year is in excess of 40 per cent, especially in household products that have registered high sales.
“We will open six more stores next year in Ipoh, Miri, Kota Baru and three more in Johor. We plan to have a total of 60 outlets (as part of our expansion plan) in five to 10 years,” he said after the launch of its Mid Valley Superstore on Saturday.
With the opening of the outlet, Harvey Norman, an Australiabased home solution company, now has 23 stores nationwide.
The outlet boasts about 38,500 square feet of retail space on the ground floor of the mall with a comprehensive furniture merchandise.
Aruldoss said the return on its Mid Valley investment was expected within twelve months as it was considered one of its key stores.
Harvey Norman opened its first local store at the IPC Shopping Centre in 2003. The store, which was later upgraded to two levels, is now its flagship superstore in Malaysia.
