KUALA LUMPUR: Taiwan healthcare technology and services providers are keen to partner with Malaysian companies, including in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.

Chao-Chin Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic director Dr Chao-Chin Hsu said among the technology that can be shared with Malaysia is in the healthcare of menopausal women.

“We have multiple centres of hormone therapy for menopausal women.

“We started developing this technology in 1996, and it has evolved and changed the patients’ lives for the better,” he said at the Taiwan Smart Care seminar held in conjunction with the Taiwan Expo 2018, here.

The expo gathered, among others, leading medical technology companies from Taiwan to introduce their services to the healthcare community in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital representative Dr Ming Chee Lee said the healthcare insurance policy being used in Taiwan can be emulated in Malaysia.

He said through this insurance policy, more than 90 per cent of Taiwan’s population are protected under the National Health Insurance scheme.

“Through this policy, the beneficiaries’ medical expenses will be covered by the insurance.”

This includes expenses for cancer treatments, added Dr Ming.
