THE father of Sri Tanjung assemblyman’s special officer, Dr M. Segar, was found dead by a drain near his homestay in Taman Tiara, Batu 9 here, on Saturday night.

Port Dickson district police chief Superintendent Aidi Sham Mohamed said the body of K. Munusamy, 76, was found by his friend at 7.45pm.

“Preliminary investigations found no injuries on the victim’s body. We also found no elements of crime at the scene.

“The case has been classified as sudden death and the body has been sent to Port Dickson Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said yesterday.

He said the cause of death could not be determined yet, pending the autopsy report.

Segar, 51, said his father went to the homestay to meet potential tenants at 5pm, but failed to return home.

The special officer to assemblyman M. Ravi said he learnt of his father’s death from his father’s friend, who found the body.

“Dad usually met tenants by himself. When he did not come home, we decided to look for him. We were later told he was found unconscious near the homestay.

“Dad could have had a heart attack because he had a heart disease. We do not suspect any criminal act,” he said at the Port Dickson Hospital Forensics Unit yesterday.

Segar said his family left the case to police to investigate.
