Food industry wishlist for growth of exports

-

PETALING JAYA: The domestic food industry is looking forward to new policies in the 2019 Budget on Friday to help boost the industry’s growth, especially for the export market.

“We hope it (the 2019 Budget) will be good for the community and the country. We hope with the new government in place, the economy will progress.

“The existing policies are good for the nation’s growth, but we welcome any suggestions that will boost growth, especially for the export market of Malaysian food products,” QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd managing director Datuk Seri Mohamed Azahari Mohamed Kamil said after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japanesebased hygienic solutions provider Takexco Malaysia Sdn Bhd here yesterday.

QSR Brands, through its marketing and distribution arm, QSR Trading Sdn Bhd, will become the sole distributor of halal-certified food grade sanitisers, namely Takex Clean QSR and Takex Clean Extra QSR, in Malaysia.

The company, under the MoU, is granted an exclusive right to become sole distributor of the world’s first halal-certified food grade ethanol sanitisers in Malaysia, with a co-branded agreement under QSR Brands.

Azahari said the company aimed to distribute the products in hypermarkets across Malaysia by January.

“Takex Clean QSR and Takex Clean Extra QSR sanitisers will be used in all 48 Kedai Ayamas outlets in the country.”

He said this was in line with the group’s effort to increase the number of products for distribution. QSR Trading is currently distributing some 300 products.

“We are looking to add, maybe, 20 to 30 more products by next year. The products will be ceritified halal.”

Takexco Malaysia director Kumi Okada said the company was working on a new product to extend food shelf life.
