Dance musician holds court
Catch Mark Sherry at Soju Sunway tomorrow, writes Dennis Chua
BRITISH dance musician Mark Sherry is set to entertain party-goers in Aerosound — Magical Journey at Soju Sunway in Sunway Hotel Resort And Spa, Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya at 9pm tomorrow. Sherry hails from Scotland, which has long produced pioneers of electronic music. He is recognised as a dedicated and enthusiastic producer, with original productions and remixes on Spinnin, Armada, Lange Recordings and Anjunabeats among other electronic music labels.
His inexorable passion and drive for his craft are evident in his diverse and well-rounded collaborations and full body of work, both in the studio as well as his vivid and technical performances spanning the globe.
Seven years ago, Spinnin Records signed him on for an exclusive two-year contract. With support from the mega label, he released his remake of the Last of the Mohicans theme and Clannad classic I Will Find You (featuring vocalist Sharone).
Sharone and Sherry later teamed up to orchestrate Silent Tears and a Latin-Americanthemed track Sangre Caliente.
Sherry’s remixes of Morph by Ali Wilson and Matt Smallwood on Doorn Records, Yeke Yeke by African artiste Mory Kante and trance leg- end Lange’s single Songless acclaimed.
He also made a name for himself in 2012 with his stellar single My Love on producer Simon Patterson’s Night Vision label.Two years later, he unveiled a brilliant remix of Max Graham’s The Evil ID which quickly shot straight to Beatport’s Trance Top 10.
His finely-tuned production skills have been constantly impressing the who’s who of the electronic dance music (EDM) scene, especially Lange after the remix of Songless went to No.1 on Beatport.
Sherry’s Outburst Radio Show has a huge global fan base.
This weekly two-hour show and iTunes podcast recently roped in Ferry Corsten, Gareth Emery, Judge Jules, Fergie, Michael Woods and Sean Tyas.
Most recently, Sherry was voted the second most popular EDM musician from Scotland in the Vestax DJ20 poll.
