Taiwan companies urged to expand to Malaysia

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) wants more companies from the island to market their products in Malaysia.

Taiwan Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur Director Tasha Hsiao said this would allow the companies to expand their market overseas.

“The technology, manufacturing and lifestyle sectors are some of the potential areas that Taiwan industry players can explore in Malaysia,” said Hsiao after the Batik Fun Walk 2018 programme, here, yesterday.

She said Malaysia was Taiwan’s seventh largest trade partner and there was potential for further growth in trade.

Hsiao also lauded the participation of three Taiwanese firms — Pacific Cycles, Feca and Step2Gold — at the exhibition, held in conjunction with the event, in a bid to promote their products.

Gin Huat Cycle Trading Sdn Bhd event specialist Chung Wei Yang, the distributor representative for folding bicycle producer Pacific Cycles, said there was a good market in Malaysia, given the growing interest in a healthier lifestyle through recreational activities such as cycling.

Meanwhile, household appliance producer Feca Malaysia plans to open outlets in the northern and southern parts of the peninsula to market its wall suction cups.

Currently, the company’s products are available at four outlets in the Klang Valley as well as online through its Facebook page.
