POLICE are trying to identify a witness and a Kuala Lumpur City Hall officer who sent a teenager to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for treatment yesterday.

The teenager was hurt when a bicycle tyre, flung from a top floor of Block 41 of the People’s Housing Project (PPR) flats in Gombak Setia, hit him on the head at 9.30am on Saturday.

Wangsa Maju police chief Superintendent Noor Azmi Yusoff said the victim, Muhammad Iqmal Abdul Razak, 19, suffered seri- ous head injuries and received 15 stitches.

“The victim was waiting for his friend at the motorcycle parking bay near the block when the incident happened.

“Iqmal felt something hit his head. The item is believed to have been thrown from one of the top floors of the PPR flats.

“A City Hall officer took the thrown object, which is a bicycle fork attached to a wheel.”

Initial investigation found that the victim did not know the individual who threw the object. The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.

On Saturday, the New Straits Times Press reported that the victim’s older brother, Muhammad Ikram Abdul Razak, said he hoped the authorities would take the matter seriously as the incident could have resulted in death or the object could have hit a child.

“Luckily, the fork and wheel did not get stuck on my brother’s head, and only resulted in injuries.

“I hope the authorities will investigate this incident to prevent such incidents from recurring.

“Maybe today it is just injuries. Who knows, maybe tomorrow, someone might die because residents are throwing things.”
