Inceif receives international award for research, educational initiatives The
International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (Inceif), the university set up by Bank Negara Malaysia, was recently honoured with the Islamic Economy Knowledge Infrastructure award at the 2018 Islamic Economy Award.
The annual award recognises innovative world-class business initiatives and ideas that have contributed to the social and economic welfare of the Islamic economy.
Inceif deputy president (academic) Professor Dr Mansor Ibrahim received the award on behalf of Inceif from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the crown prince of Dubai and chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.
The ceremony took place during the opening ceremony of the fourth Global Islamic Economy Summit in Dubai. “As a proponent of Islamic finance, Inceif believes it must play an active role in creating meaningful impact and this can be achieved through the creation of alternative financing framework through Islamic social finance,” Mansor said.
“We have been actively involved in research and development projects to boost the sustainable finance industry in Malaysia. And this award is a reflection of our commitment in building a sustainable world and Islamic economy.
To ensure its relevance to the industry, Inceif has introduced action-based learning in its academic programmes and collaborated with the industry on a number of research works that focuses on new areas of Islamic finance, such as Islamic economy, Islamic social finance, responsible and sustainable finance in the context of sustainable development goals.
