Sungai Petani MP certain of V-P win

-

SUNGAI PETANI: Datuk Johari Abdul remains positive about securing one of the PKR vice-president posts in the party elections, despite observers giving him only a slim chance.

The Sungai Petani member of parliament said he was certain of victory, and at the same time, expressed confidence in Rafizi Ramli winning the party’s deputy presidency.

“My chances are like everyone else’s. I’m confident of winning. At the very least, I’ll secure a place. But in this election, anything can happen.

“Some people use their positions, others use their wealth. There are so many variations. But in a straight game, Insyaallah ,I can make it through.”

Johari said if he could win a vice-president’s post, then Rafizi had a chance of winning the deputy presidency.

“I’m 100 per cent confident that Rafizi will secure the PKR deputy presidency. The field is still open. Many divisions have yet to hold their elections.”

Johari also voiced his displeasure at the way the party elections were conducted and hoped that the weaknesses would be rectified the next time around.

“Almost all observers come from only one state, which is Selangor. Why not other states? This has created suspicion.

“In addition, it is the division chiefs who choose where the voting is held. Some places are downright unsuitable. By right, it should be the central election committee that decides as it is the one with authority.”

Johari also hoped that the evoting system would be reviewed and improved on, given the problems it experienced in the current party elections.
