Pahang launches development plan with 4 thrusts
KUANTAN: The Pahang 2050 State Structural Plan (RSN) has underlined four main thrusts to steer Pahang towards a better future.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail described RSN, which consist 33 policies and 97 strategies, as a vital longterm development plan for the state, which ensured a properlymanaged living environment for the people.
He said RSN’s main thrusts, namely spatial equality, economic growth and stability, wellness and sustainability, would determine the Pahang’s direction, as outlined in the Town and Country Planning Act 1976 (Act 172).
“Everyone knows that Pahang, at 3.6 million hectares, is the biggest state in the peninsula. It is rich in natural resources, including forestry and bauxite.
“These resources have to be properly managed so that they will continue to remain an asset and generate returns for the state.
“Under RSN, the state will have an effective economy management system and thus, improving the people’s quality of life,” he said before launching the Pahang 2050 RSN here yesterday.
He said RSN was tabled at the National Physical Planning Council last month and was approved without any amendment.
Wan Rosdy said he hoped the seminar on planning for highlands and hillside development, which was held after the launch of RSN, would help government agencies, developers and consultants be more sensitive on projects carried out on highlands.
“The seminar should give them a better understanding to ensure development at highlands and hillsides in Pahang are well-managed, safe and well-conserved.
“Several high-impact projects have also been discussed under RSN, including Tioman Airport in Rompin and Tasik Chini in Pekan,” he said.
