Perak to reward whistle-blowers

-

IPOH: The state government will reward individuals who furnish information on cases of leakages or misconduct within the state government, especially on the state’s administrative management, which are successfully prosecuted in court.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the reward, in the form of incentives, would encourage all parties to help the state government tackle cases involving integrity and misconduct within the administration.

“This reflects the state government’s uncompromising stance on issues affecting integrity and accountability.

“However, these rewards apply only to cases that are reported to the State Secretary’s Office via the Integrity Unit.

“This unit is responsible for managing and undertaking initiatives encompassing integrity institutionalisation, prevention, compliance, detection of misconduct and optimum punitive action which are focused, planned and efficient.”

Faizal was speaking after officiating the Perak Integrity Empowerment Seminar here yesterday. Present were State Secretary Zainal Azman Abu Saman and Integriti Malaysia chief executive officer Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin.

Faizal said this was the same as the “whistle-blower” method used by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

“We will improve and increase productivity. However, this is not meant to build an unhealthy work culture. Do not focus on spying on colleagues for the sake of it.

“What we have to inculcate and understand is that if a colleague’s behaviour can ruin the organisation and the country, then we have to take action.”
