Sabah Umno Youth calls for Zahid’s resignation

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno Youth has issued a demand for party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to relinquish his position immediately.

The wing claimed that Zahid’s indecisiveness in charting the party’s direction had led to an exodus of leaders and members.

Sabah Umno Youth chief Ghazalie Ansing said this was important for the party to move forward.

“If he refuses (to step down), I implore the Umno Supreme Council to ensure that he does, in order for this party to progress and move forward,” he said.

Ghazalie, who is also Tawau Umno Youth chief, said the party president should realise that the party’s troubles were his fault.

Zahid, he claimed, did not have the command and respect of Umno leaders and members.

“Umno deserves to be led by someone worthy. It cannot be denied that Sabah Umno has been rocked by these events.

“Nevertheless, Umno has to remain and fight in the Sabah political arena. In this battle, hardiness and durability are key.

“The weaknesses of leaders, are among the external causes of this political chaos, which has led some to concede and leave.

“They have forgotten Umno’s struggle. These people were the ones who taught us on how to fight on for the rights of the Bumiputera, and yet they are the ones who have left the battlefield.”

Ghazalie said whatever happens, Sabah Umno would remain steadfast for the sake of the Sabah Bumiputera community, and Malaysia as a whole.
