MVV 2.0 TO WOO RM294B INVESTMENTS
Metropolis development to create more than 600,000 job opportunities by 2045
THE development of Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0 (MVV 2.0) in Negri Sembilan is expected to attract RM294 billion investments over 30 years.
Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun said the competitive and inclusive world-class metropolis development would create more than 600,000 job opportunities by 2045.
He said the development on 153,411ha, here, and in Port Dickson would focus on catalyst development, economic and social benefits as well as environment sustainability aspirations.
“International and local investment targets for Negri Sembilan are set at RM1 billion a year. However, for this year, the investment in the state has already hit RM2 billion,” said Aminuddin after launching MVV 2.0 and RTMVV Public Participation Publicity Programme 2045 yesterday.
Also present were state investment, industry, entrepreneurship, education and human capital committee chairman Dr Rafie Ab Malek and Sime Darby Property Bhd chairman Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz.
Aminuddin said the investments were expected to boost the state’s gross domestic product by three to four per cent per year.
He said the MVV development had been given a new lease of life, in line with the government’s aspiration to create job opportunities and promote high-tech industry.
The development would be driven entirely by the private sector and the government would serve as a facilitator for the implementation, Aminuddin added.
“Sime Darby Property, through MVV Holdings, agreed to be the developer to implement major projects in the MVV area.
“However, the government invites private companies to cooperate in realising the MVV 2.0 plan,” he said.
MVV 2.0 is focused on the development of four economic drivers, namely high-tech industry, services and tourism, education and skills-based research as well as logistics, aviation and maritime hub-related activities, he added.
