FIREMAN Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, who was severely beaten up by rioters at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in USJ 25, Subang Jaya, last month, is still in critical condition, although stable.

Fire and Rescue Department director-general Datuk Mohammad Hamdan Wahid, said Adib, 24, needed the support of certain machines to stabilise his organs.

“Adib can communicate, but nobody is allowed to visit him.

“I expect to receive updates on his health status from the specialists in the next two days.

“In the meantime, the treatment from specialists and doctors needs to continue,” he said after witnessing a handover of a memorandum of understanding from the department and Universiti Teknologi Mara here.

He said the medical report was important so that the department could gauge Adib’s condition before visiting him to investigate what happened in the incident.

“We want to hear more from him, especially now that he can gesture with hand signals and write on a board. This indicates that there is much that we can learn from him on the incident.”

He said Adib was in high spirits and supported by his family members and fiancee.

In the Nov 27 incident, Adib, who is attached with the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Department, was beaten up by rioters in front of the temple as he attempted to put out vehicle fires.
