NEW INTERCHANGE TO REDUCE TRAVEL TIME
It bypasses Jalan Bukit Angkasa intersection and is toll-free
THE official opening of the Pantai Sentral Park Interchange yesterday will decrease travel time for those from Pantai Dalam and Kerinchi from 50 minutes to 30 minutes during peak hours.
With the new interchange, road users can go straight to the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) without having to go through the traffic light intersection in Jalan Bukit Angkasa. On top of that, the new route will be toll-free.
Deputy Works Minister Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir, after officiating the interchange, said the project was an example of a good initiative between the government and a housing developer in making lives easier for road users living in the community.
“The cost of the interchange project is RM98 million and is fully paid for by developers IJM Land Bhd and Amona Development Sdn Bhd. With the opening of this interchange, congestion in the area will be reduced, making the driving experience smoother for users of the NPE and residents of Lembah Pantai.”
Present was IJM Corporation Bhd chief executive officer and managing director Datuk Soam Heng Choon.
Soam said the project was a strategic development plan, with goals of future growth and creating opportunities to develop the surrounding communities.
“Located at Km11 of the NPE, the interchange is made of three ramps, complete with road lamps and CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras to monitor the safety of road users. The interchange will ease congestion around Pantai Sentral Park, including Pantai Hill Park and Pantai Dalam.”
The interchange was officially opened to the public at 6pm yesterday.
