Perlis get 7 days to appeal

- Zulfaizan Mansor

THE Perlis FA (PFA) have received a “lifeline” of seven days to make an appeal on their expulsion from the Premier League.

Perlis were booted out after they failed to show proof that they were financially sound to carry on playing in the M-League, and for not paying their players’ salaries.

However, Malaysia Football League (MFL) chief executive officer, Kevin Ramalingam, indicated that Perlis have a slim chance of being reinstated by their board of directors.

“We gave Perlis seven days to appeal even though the norm is 14 days, because it’s a serious case.

“A representative from Perlis FA came today (yesterday) to get a better understanding of our decision. He will then explain it to the Perlis FA exco for further action from their part.

“As of now, MFL hope their future undertakings are a success and their players will be absorbed into new teams after MFL opened the door for them (players) to be registered with other teams by extending the registration period by another 30 days effective Wednesday just for the Perlis players,” said Kevin.

After Perlis were sacked, former Terengganu City FC player Shafuan Adli Shaari appealed to MFL to allow them to compete in the Permier League in place of the Northern Lions.

However, Kevin said there will not be a replacement team just like what happened when Kuantan FA were thrown out of the Premier League last season.

“Based on a decison taken last season, there will not be a replacement for Perlis. What happens if the replacement team faces financial problems at a later stage?

“Last season after Kuantan FA were dropped, the Premier League continued with 11 teams without a replacement team.”
