MALAYSIA SET TO REVEAL FLYING CAR

It is fully driven by local technology, says minister

-

MALAYSIA’S flying car, which will be showcased to the public this year, will be developed by local companies, said Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof.

He said foreign parties would be involved only as consultants over the car’s safety features and procedures.

“We will use local capabilities to build the flying car. We will only refer to foreign parties to exchange information on the car’s safety.

“The prototype is ready.

“It is up to the private sector whether it wants to use it,” Redzuan said at the launch of Fave’s Growth Malaysia here yesterday.

It was reported that the development of the flying car was the new government’s initiative to promote the use of high technology by the private sector to boost productivity.

Redzuan said the flying car could be used in agriculture and aerospace.

Fave launched Growth Malaysia in collaboration with Grab, Malayan Banking Bhd, Malaysia Digital Economy Corp, Funding Societies and Productivity Nexus for retail food and beverage.

Fave founder Joel Neoh said the collaboration aimed to help 100,000 restaurants grow digitally next year.

He said Growth Malaysia offered restaurant owners cashless and mobile payments, digital loyalty cards, food delivery and easier access to financing.

“As the world goes digital, offline businesses, especially of food and beverage, need to catch up and adapt to the growing shift in consumers’ behaviours.”
