Nazri under probe over alleged seditious remarks
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have opened an investigation paper into Barisan Nasional secretarygeneral Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz’s alleged seditious remarks made at his Semenyih by-election ceramah last Saturday.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun, said they received a report on the alleged sedition on Monday.
“We are completing the investigation paper and this includes taking statements from several individuals.
“The case is being investigated under the Sedition Act 1948.
“The paper needs to be completed as soon as possible to be sent to the deputy public prosecutor.”
Fuzi was speaking after attending the 63rd anniversary of the Federal Reserve Unit and presentation of Jasa Pahlawan Negara medals here yesterday.
On a separate matter, Fuzi said actions taken by the police on cases involving insults to Islam, Prophet Muhammad and his wife, Saidatina Aisyah, followed the legal process and standard operating procedures.
“We have handed over investigation papers on the issue to the deputy public prosecutor yesterday (on Monday).
“We will wait for instructions. We have proposed certain things and it is up to the deputy public prosecutor to agree or not.”
