EVERY bride dreams of finding that perfect dress, the one gown that will inspire awe, evoke tears of joy and allow her to walk down the aisle looking effortlessly beautiful. Whether she wants a fitted mermaid style that flatters her figure, a soft, flowy ensemble that suits her garden wedding or a glamorous princess inspired ball gown, every bride deserves the dress of her dreams.

For the woman who will be a bride this year, choices abound from top wedding designers in the country.

The bridal wear collections presented at The Wedding KL 2019 showcase last month saw a host of designs boasting luxurious fabrics, fine embellishments and modern silhouettes.

Many designers also married tradition with the needs of the fashion forward bride for gowns that drew attention and would certainly be the talk of the town.

Here are some of the collections making a statement this year: Full embellishments on a nude-coloured design by Liza Azulkarnain.

The BeYOUtiful collection is inspired by the saying “be your own kind of beautiful” and comprises intricately designed gowns in a blend of classic and contemporary.

Each gown has been carefully crafted to embody a modern voguish design, while keeping in mind functionality through the incorporation of pockets, detachable trains and removable off-shoulder pieces.

The Stardust collection is inspired by all things glam and glitter with an underlying European tone. It embraces the traditional European bridal ball gown design with a twist of InZpire’s modern and edgy style.

The collection features various shimmery embellishments such as Swarovski crystals, precious stones, sequins and sparkly fabrics.

Fine embroidered lace, mixes of nude and ivory, dotted tulle and chiffon silk and meticulous work ensure that every bride finds her gown, whether she’s looking for feminine and conservative or contemporary and adventurous.

This fashion brand continues to push boundaries this year with new looks for practical modern brides. Principal designer Meichi Phoon has introduced fresh designs to the Infinity Wedding Gown series and gorgeous bespoke gowns that are both exquisite and practical to wear.

An Infinity Wedding Gown transforms seamlessly into multiple looks, perfect for contemporary brides who prefer versatility, elegance, comfort and practicality in one dress.

The bride has the flexibility to create many looks by picking a base gown of her choice to be paired with various toppers, overlays and underlays.

This seamless transformation from one look to another with just one gown allows every bride to shine in her own personality.

The collection also sees an injection of new colours for brides who wish to be different including the Deana, a nude-coloured strapless base gown which changes its look and colour to champagne or blush seamlessly with add-on toppers.

Trending colours this year like sage and coral have been used for brides who wish to move away from the usual red and navy for evening wear.

Modern silhouettes also come into play with a bridal jumpsuit that can easily be used well beyond the wedding.

Statement Emcee Bridal creations this year feature the designer’s signature detailing like charming botanical bead embroidery, as well as patch laces that make each dress unique.

Meichi’s signature cheongsam cut also sees a comeback this year with creative tailoring for that perfect fit. A collection filled with wonder and intricacy, fusing traditional silhouettes with modern elements and vice versa.

As Fiziwoo is known for its sculptural silhouettes, the designers behind the house have retained this signature style, yet pushed boundaries by utilising soft tulle fabrics to construct silhouettes that are soft yet hard, romantic yet edgy.

The collection presents 17 dresses, each piece portraying a rich variety of couture techniques and a substantial amount of meticulous handwork such as “tambour” beadwork, hand-pressed pleats and hand embroidery.

Exclusive fabrics such as Italian tulle, silk faille and French lace in ivory hues have been perfectly finished with beadwork using glass beads, sequins and Swarovski crystals, all of which lend an air of exclusivity to each bridal piece. Fourteen exclusive and elegant creations celebrate the season of spring, especially for the modern woman who wants to look glamorous and exclusive on her big day.

These designs have been inspired by Parisian women who project their image with grace and live their lives majestically.

A romantic and effortless theme comes through in the graceful Victorian style cut and three-dimensional adornments which add splendor to every piece.
