Cops receive 2nd post-mortem report
SHAH ALAM: Selangor police have received the second postmortem report of Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Nazrin Hassan.
This was confirmed by Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat in a statement yesterday.
“It is confirmed that the second postmortem report was obtained last week. On Feb 22, the investigation paper had been referred back to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further decision,” said Fadzil.
Last Wednesday, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said he had chaired several meetings to discuss Nazrin’s murder case. He died in his house in Petaling Jaya, on June 14 last year.
Noor Rashid said the medical report and the second postmortem examination were important for police to plan their next course of action and to identify the culprits.
A news portal earlier reported that Nazrin’s family said the second post-mortem examination showed that he died of multiple head injuries.
However, Nazrin’s head injuries were not due to the explosion of a mobile phone, which was said to have been left charging at his bedside, as concluded in the first postmortem examination carried out by pathologists of Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
The article said Nazrin’s family members were briefed on the latest development into the investigations by police last week and the autopsy report had been sent to the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
Two months after Nazrin’s death, the case was reclassified as murder when investigations by the Fire and Rescue Department showed traces of fuel at the scene.
Nazrin’s wife and two stepsons, as well as several family members were later called in for questioning.
