Mara reviews investments in several companies
KUALA LUMPUR: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) is conducting a research on the potential of its investment companies by re-evaluating their investment rationalisation measures.
Its chairman Dr Hasnita Hashim said the government agency is ready to make tough decisions, such as closing investment companies deemed incompetent and not profitable.
“Of course, we have successful investments but looking at what has happened recently, we realised that investments were not under Mara’s expertise. Hence, we have to make a difficult decision on this if it calls for it,” she said during Mara Media chairman’s Friendly Assembly.
She added that Mara had been reviewing its investments in several companies and will inform its investment valuation after a thorough research had been carried out, which was expected to complete between two and three months.
She said Mara would continue to help entrepreneurs to get the exposure and go on a larger scale while developing and expanding to their full potential.
“Mara will assist in terms of advisory services and training and funding. We will continue to assist them, including giving opportunities to expand their business domestically and abroad.
“We will also provide assistance to start-up entrepreneurs to delve in ventures they are interested in,” she said.
