More than 8,500 bookings received for Honda H-RV since January

KUALA LUMPUR: The new Honda HR-V sport utility vehicle (SUV) has received more than 8,500 bookings since its launch in January.

Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd said it had received close to 4,000 bookings within a month, and that alone surpassed its three-month target.

Since its launch, Honda Malaysia has delivered more than 3,000 units to customers.

“The new HR-V dominated the compact SUV segment in January with an 87 per cent market share and even now remains the segment’s leader,” said the company recently.

It added that 47 per cent of total sales were recorded in the Klang Valley while the southern and northern regions recorded 18 per cent each.

The HR-V is the first Honda model to feature the Passion Red Pearl colour.

“The colour appears to be a favourite among customers, representing 28 per cent of overall sales,” said the company.

The HR-V comes in four variants, namely the Hybrid, RS, V and E.

The petrol variant is powered by a 1.8L SOHC i-VTEC engine, combined with Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology Continuous Variable Transmission that delivers a fun-to-drive experience. Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Toichi Ishiyama said the HR-V had grown in popularity since it was first launched in 2015.

“We are glad to see that the new HR-V has been overwhelmingly received by Malaysians,” he added.
