EVERYTHING NOT SAVED WILL BE LOST: PART 1 FOALS

-

MY, how Foals has grown in less than a decade of flying high, and yet still remain blissfully under the radar of mainstream music fans.

Free to pursue its own direction and experience its own growth and discovery in the world of music, it has evolved a lot before arriving at the place in which it finds itself now.

And it’s not as if it has changed into something completely unrecognisable, or irreconcilable with the Foals of old, the band responsible for unforgettable tracks such as Spanish Sahara and Total Love Forever.

Sure, its latest album sounds like it has continued its transition to heavier sounds as has been observed in the band over the past several years.

And as the severity of the “classic” instruments in its music ramps up, the electronic element follows suit to great effect. The final result is exactly what you’d imagine it to be, a cacophony of sounds exploding into your ears at full throttle.

There is an element of chaos in tracks like Exits and Cafe D’Athens at first, or within the first few bars of the song.

But as the layers unfold themselves and begin to intertwine along the way, there is a complementary nature in each individual part that few others would be able to achieve.

It’s as if you gave the boys a box of tools to solve a problem, and they have gone out of their way to use as many of them as possible to achieve their goal.

There’s something special about a band that makes music unlike any other in the world. Pleasant music, but of course.
